Week 9

Introduction

This week was another meaningful and active week in my teaching practice. The school conducted several academic, cultural, and co-curricular programmes. I actively participated in organising different competitions along with the teachers. I also received an opportunity to have my yoga class observed by my Physical Education teacher, which helped me identify areas for improvement. The Arts Festival was another major event of the week and provided students with opportunities to express their talents and creativity.

Teachers' Day Assembly

The school conducted a special assembly to commemorate Teachers' Day. The importance of Teachers' Day and the valuable role of teachers in students' lives were explained during the assembly. The programme helped students understand the contribution of teachers to their education and personal development. The assembly was conducted in a meaningful and respectful atmosphere.

Shastrotsavam Programme

The school conducted the Shastrotsavam programme with active participation from the students. Various competitions, including a speech competition and a quiz competition, were organised as part of the programme. Students participated enthusiastically and demonstrated their knowledge, creativity, and communication skills. We supported the teachers in organising and conducting these programmes. It was a valuable experience for us to work as part of the organising team.

Eureka Quiz Competition

The school also conducted the Eureka Quiz Competition. We actively participated in organising and conducting the competition together with the teachers. The students participated with great enthusiasm and interest. This programme helped students improve their general knowledge, thinking skills, and confidence. Working with the teachers to conduct the quiz was a wonderful learning experience for me.

Aksharamuttam Quiz Competition

An Aksharamuttam Quiz Competition was also conducted in the school this week. We worked together with the teachers to organise and conduct the programme. The students actively participated and showed great interest throughout the competition. The programme encouraged students to improve their knowledge, reading habits, and competitive spirit.

Yoga Class Observation

This week, my Physical Education teacher visited the school and observed my yoga class. She carefully observed the way I conducted the class and interacted with the students. After the observation, she gave me important suggestions and points for improvement. Her feedback helped me understand my strengths and the areas that I need to improve in my yoga teaching. This was a valuable experience for my professional development.

Arts Festival

The school conducted a two-day Arts Festival with great enthusiasm. The programme provided students with opportunities to showcase their artistic and cultural talents. The Arts Festival was inaugurated by Gopu Nair, a District Panchayat member, along with the poet Vijay Karun. The inauguration created an inspiring atmosphere for the students. Various artistic and cultural performances made the programme colourful and enjoyable.

Mid-Day Meal Service

We actively participated in the Mid-Day Meal Service throughout the week. We worked together with the teachers to serve food to the students and ensure that the service was conducted smoothly. We also helped with the necessary arrangements during the meal time. This experience strengthened our teamwork, responsibility, and cooperation with the school staff.

Reflection

This week was a highly enriching experience in my teaching practice. Participating in different competitions, assemblies, the Arts Festival, and the Mid-Day Meal Service helped me develop my organisational and teamwork skills. The observation of my yoga class by my Physical Education teacher was especially valuable because her feedback helped me identify areas for improvement. I also learned how schools provide opportunities for students to develop their academic, artistic, cultural, and physical abilities. Overall, this week helped me grow in confidence and understand the different responsibilities of a teacher beyond classroom teaching.
