Weekly Teaching Practice Reflection

Weekly Teaching Practice Reflection

Introduction

This week marked the beginning of my teaching practice, and it was a memorable and enriching experience. I had the opportunity to interact with students, observe the school environment, and conduct classes according to my lesson plans. The students were active, enthusiastic, and cooperative throughout the week. Their participation in classroom activities made the teaching-learning process more engaging and enjoyable. This first week helped me gain confidence and understand the responsibilities of a teacher.

Classroom Experience

During this week, I conducted classes based on my lesson plans. Most of the lessons went smoothly, and the students actively participated in discussions and learning activities. On one day, I found it difficult to manage the class time effectively, and I could not complete all the planned activities within the allotted period. This helped me realise the importance of proper time management in teaching. By the last day of the week, I was able to organise my classroom activities more efficiently and complete my lesson as planned. This experience improved my confidence and classroom management skills.

Special Program

LP UP Assembly

On Thursday morning, the school conducted the LPU Assembly. The assembly began with a prayer and included various informative and cultural activities. The most interesting parts of the programme were the Hindi news presentation and the book review, which enhanced students' language skills and reading habits. The assembly was well organised and provided a meaningful start to the day. It was a valuable learning experience for both students and teachers.

Letter Writing Competition

During the lunch break on Thursday, the school organised a letter writing competition based on writing a letter to Vaikom Muhammad Basheer. As student teachers, we actively participated in organising and conducting the competition. The students showed great enthusiasm and creativity while expressing their thoughts through letters. The programme helped improve their writing skills and encouraged them to appreciate the contributions of the great Malayalam writer.

Quiz Competition

On Friday, the school conducted a quiz competition based on the life and works of Vaikom Muhammad Basheer. We actively assisted the teachers in organising and conducting the programme. The students participated with great interest and excitement, answering the questions enthusiastically. The competition promoted literary awareness among students and created a joyful learning atmosphere. Being part of the organising team gave us valuable experience in conducting school programmes.

Mid-Day Meal Service

Every day, we assisted the teachers in serving the mid-day meal to the students. We worked together to distribute the food in an organised manner and ensured that every student received their meal. This responsibility helped us understand the importance of teamwork, care, and service in a school environment. It was a meaningful experience that strengthened our relationship with the students and the school community.

Reflection

Overall, the first week of teaching practice was a valuable learning experience. It helped me improve my teaching skills, classroom management, communication, and confidence. I also gained experience by participating in various school programmes and activities. I look forward to learning more and becoming a better teacher in the coming weeks.
