Week-8 (1/9/2026 - 5/9/2026 )
Week - 8
Introduction
This week was a very active and memorable week in my teaching practice. The school conducted several academic, sports, and co-curricular programmes. These activities provided me with opportunities to interact with students outside the classroom and to work closely with the teachers. The week clearly showed me how the school gives importance not only to academic learning but also to the overall development of students through extracurricular activities.
Sports Day
The school conducted a Sports Day for the students, and they participated actively in various sports events. We supported the teachers in organising and coordinating the programme. The Sports Day was conducted at two different locations, one near the school ground and another at Puzhanad Ground. Managing the events at both locations was a wonderful and memorable experience in my teacher training. It helped me understand the importance of teamwork, coordination, discipline, and proper management while conducting large school programmes.
Science Fair
The school also conducted Shastrotsavam, in which students participated with great enthusiasm. As part of the programme, a Science Fair was organised where students displayed their creativity and scientific skills. They prepared different types of working models, still models, crafts, and other creative items. The active participation of the students made the programme very interesting. This experience helped me understand how such programmes encourage students to explore their creativity, scientific thinking, and practical skills.
Classroom Experience
During this week, I started teaching a new topic to the students. The students actively participated in the classroom activities and showed interest in learning the new topic. The classroom environment was positive, organised, and supportive. The students responded well to the activities and interactions, making the teaching-learning process enjoyable. This experience helped me improve my confidence and teaching skills.
Noon Meal Service
We actively participated in the Noon Meal Service by serving food to the students during lunchtime. We worked cooperatively with the teachers and helped ensure that the food was served to all students in an organised manner. This experience helped me understand the importance of teamwork, responsibility, and cooperation in the smooth functioning of a school.
Teachers' Day Celebration
The school celebrated Teachers' Day with enthusiasm. As part of the celebration, we prepared a poster to present at the school. We designed the poster attractively and creatively. Preparing the poster was a pleasant experience and gave us an opportunity to express our appreciation and respect for teachers through creativity.
Kho-Kho Practice
Due to the absence of the Physical Education teacher, we got an opportunity to support the students during their Kho-Kho practice. We particularly assisted the girls' Kho-Kho team by giving instructions and guiding them during their practice sessions. We also supported the students with their registration-related activities. It was a valuable experience because it allowed us to take responsibility for students' physical activities and understand the importance of guidance and encouragement in sports.
Reflection
This week was a highly valuable experience in my teacher training. I had the opportunity to participate in various activities, including Sports Day, Shastrotsavam, the Science Fair, classroom teaching, Noon Meal Service, Teachers' Day, and Kho-Kho practice. These experiences helped me develop my communication, coordination, leadership, teamwork, and organisational skills. Most importantly, this week showed me how the school gives importance to extracurricular activities along with academic learning. I understood that the overall development of students depends not only on classroom learning but also on providing opportunities in sports, science, creativity, culture, and other activities.
