Week 4 (27/7/2026 - 31/7/2026)

Introduction

This week was a productive and memorable period of my teaching practice. I taught the third chapter, "Movement of the Earth: Rotation and Revolution," to my students. The students actively participated in the classroom activities and showed great interest in learning the new concepts. During this week, my teacher educator visited the school to observe my class. After the observation, I received valuable feedback about the strengths and areas for improvement in my teaching. The suggestions helped me understand how to improve my teaching methods and classroom management skills.

Classroom Experience

My classroom experience this week was very good. I taught the concepts of rotation and revolution using suitable teaching aids and interactive activities. The students responded actively and participated in discussions with enthusiasm. I also received several substitution periods, which gave me more opportunities to interact with different classes. These experiences helped me understand students' behaviour, improve my classroom management skills, and gain greater confidence as a student teacher.

Lunar Day Quiz Competition

The Science Club organised a Lunar Day Quiz Competition to create awareness about the importance of Lunar Day and space science. We actively participated in organising and conducting the competition. The students enthusiastically answered the questions and displayed their knowledge about the Moon and space exploration. It was an interesting and informative programme.

Lunar Day Essay Writing Competition

As part of the Lunar Day celebrations, an Essay Writing Competition was conducted for students. We actively assisted the teachers in organising the programme and ensuring its smooth conduct. The students participated with great interest and expressed their ideas creatively through their essays. The competition encouraged students to improve their writing skills and scientific awareness.

Science Fair – Quiz Competition

In connection with the Science Fair, the Social Science Club, Science Club, and Malayalam Club jointly organised a quiz competition. We actively participated in conducting the programme by reading the questions, assisting the participants, and helping the teachers manage the event. The competition was well organised, and the students participated enthusiastically. It was a valuable experience in organising academic programmes.

Mid-Day Meal Service

Throughout the week, we actively participated in the Mid-Day Meal Service. We helped carry the food containers from the kitchen to the serving area and served food to the students along with the teachers. This responsibility taught us the importance of teamwork, service, and caring for students beyond classroom teaching.

Awareness Programme on Screen Addiction

This week, an awareness programme on Screen Addiction was organised for the students. A resource person was invited to deliver an informative session on the harmful effects of excessive screen use and the importance of maintaining healthy digital habits. We actively participated in organising and conducting the programme. The school and teachers extended excellent support, making the programme successful and beneficial for the students.

Wrestling Competition

The school also conducted a Wrestling Competition for the students. Many students participated enthusiastically and displayed excellent sportsmanship and physical fitness. The school provided all the necessary facilities for conducting the matches in a systematic manner. The competition reflected the school's commitment to promoting sports and encouraging students to participate in physical activities.

Reflection

This week was an excellent learning experience in my teaching practice. Teaching the chapter on Movement of the Earth: Rotation and Revolution improved my confidence and teaching skills. The classroom observation by my teacher educator helped me identify both my strengths and the areas where I need improvement. The substitution periods gave me more opportunities to understand student behaviour and practise classroom management. Participating in various competitions, the awareness programme, the Mid-Day Meal Service, and other school activities enhanced my organisational skills, communication, and teamwork. Overall, this week contributed significantly to my professional growth as a future teacher.
