 GHS Plavoor

Government High School (GHS) Plavoor is one of the oldest educational institutions in the region, established in 1879. It is managed by the Department of Education and has been serving the rural community of Kulathummal, near Kattakada, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, for more than a century. As a co-educational day school, it provides equal opportunities for both boys and girls to pursue education and develop their skills. The school offers classes from Grade 1 to 10, ensuring that children from the primary level up to secondary education receive quality learning close to home.

The school has all the essential facilities to support the academic and personal growth of its students. The classrooms are spacious and well-maintained, creating a comfortable environment for learning. A well-stocked library with over 2000 books encourages students to read and expand their knowledge beyond textbooks. To keep pace with modern education, the school has a computer-aided learning lab equipped with computers, which helps students become familiar with technology and enhances interactive learning.

Apart from academics, the school also promotes physical fitness and extracurricular activities. There is a playground within the campus where students engage in sports, games, and physical training. These activities help in developing team spirit, discipline, and leadership qualities among students.

The school infrastructure is solid and secure, consisting of a government-owned building with a pucca boundary wall and proper electricity supply. Clean drinking water is available through tap water facilities, and the school takes care of hygiene with functional toilets for both boys and girls, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for everyone.

GHS Plavoor is more than just a center for education—it is a place that shapes young minds, builds character, and prepares students for future challenges. With its rich history, committed teachers, and supportive environment, the school continues to be a pillar of learning and growth for the community it serves.
